On Monday, October 27, FLC was presented with the Apprenticeship of the Year award at EUC Zealand in Næstved. Apprentices at vocational schools across the country nominate their apprenticeships for Apprenticeship of the Year through their schools, and this is the second time that FLC has won the title of Apprenticeship of the Year.
It was a nomination by blacksmith apprentice Lukas Brix, who is now a permanent employee at FLC, that led to the award from EUC Zealand.
Head of Apprenticeships, Charlotte Lie Steen, says proudly, “It is a great joy to see our apprentices grow both professionally and socially while being part of the largest construction project in Danish history. I am incredibly proud to receive the Apprenticeship of the Year award and look forward to continuing our work with all these fantastic people.”
In 2024, FLC won Apprenticeship of the Year at Zealand Business College. In 2025, a number of FLC’s apprentices chose to nominate FLC for Apprenticeship of the Year 2025 at their schools, including Lukas Brix at EUC Zealand.
Collective effort to educate students and apprentices
At FLC, we are proud of this prestigious award, which also goes to all construction workers – an essential part of our collective effort to train and educate apprentices on the project.
The construction of the Fehmarnbelt tunnel has created new job and career opportunities for apprentices equivalent to 500 full-time positions. FLC accounts for 470, while the remaining approx. 30 are distributed among other consortia on the project. Electricians, technical designers, crane operators, concreters, process operators, office assistants, and many other professional groups thus have the opportunity to begin their careers as apprentices with Femern Link Contractors (FLC) on the Fehmarnbelt tunnel project.
